The Grilling Technique

Grilling is a cooking technique that uses direct and dry heat that can either be placed under or on top of the food that is being cooked. Grilled food is very common around the world and is predominant in South America, Asia, the USA, Germany, United Kingdom (UK), and Ireland. It is commonly done outdoors but can also be done inside the kitchen. It is also a common activity during beach and pool parties and other family and friend gatherings. The traditional tool that is used for until now is the charcoal grill. As the name implies, people use charcoal as the source of heat.

Another tool that is now being used especially in restaurants and homes is the gas grill. Obviously, the heat source is gas. Such is just simply placed on top of the kitchen stove. Other manufacturers also produce ones that can be run by electricity. When it comes to the types of grilling, there are two major types. One is whole grilling. It is a type of grilling wherein the whole product is grilled completely from side to side. Partial grilling, on the other hand, is a type wherein the cook will grill both sides for a certain period and cook it completely using another technique like cooking in the oven.

When it comes to the products that can be cooked using grilling techniques, there are already a lot. The most common is, of course, any type of meat. Such can be pork, beef, and lamb. Poultry products like chicken and lamb can also be grilled. Some people also love to grill vegetables like bell pepper, tomato, and corn. In addition, seafood products can also be grilled. The most common ones are shrimp, fish, and squid. People who love to experiment will grill any other products.

However, it should be noted that different products will require different minutes of cooking. Following such will ensure that the food is really cooked and still juicy. In general, grilled dishes that are overcooked will be dry and a little tough. Undercooked dishes are, of course, non-palatable. Additionally, undercooked dishes that will be recooked will already have inconsistent juiciness and tenderness. Some other parts will also be overcooked and other parts will be cooked perfectly. Another thing to consider when grilling is that the cooking time will also depend on the thickness and size of the product being grilled. Thus, the standard time for cooking pork cannot be true for every piece of pork.

People who have been cooking for a long time may not worry much in those problems since they can already say if a meat, seafood, vegetable, or poultry product is cooked perfectly. However, they also have to closely monitor what they are cooking to reach such perfection. Thus, considering to buy a grilling thermometer is worth it. Such products can help both novice and experienced home and restaurant cooks. It should be noted that each product also has a certain temperature that can identify if such is cooked as rare, medium-rare, medium, and well-done.
